MOSCOW, April 21 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry has delivered 18,000 tons of flour to Afghanistan in humanitarian aid, the ministry press service announced on Tuesday.

The shipment of flour was delivered to the Afghan Agriculture Ministry in the northern city of Hairatan, from where it will be distributed to needy Afghan families.

"In total, 275 rail cars have delivered 18,000 tons of flour," the ministry said in a statement.

The Russian Embassy's economic and trade aide in Kabul, Georgy Mishin, said an additional delivery of some 7,000 tons would be sent to Afghanistan in the summer. The flour is being delivered within the framework of UN World Food Program aid commitments.

This year Russia will also deliver 22 trucks, 2 fire trucks and a fuel truck to Afghanistan.
