ROSTOV-ON-DON, June 7 (RIA Novosti) - One police officer was killed and another injured in a militant attack in the south Russian republic of Ingushetia on Sunday morning, investigators said.
The officers from Chechnya were attacked in a wooded area in Ingushetia's Sunzha district, a spokesman told RIA Novosti.
The policemen were taken to hospital, and one of them later died.
The North Caucasus republics of Daghestan and Ingushetia have seen a rise in violence recently, linked both to militants based in neighboring Chechnya and local criminal groups.
