Russia's Mideast envoy visits Lebanon

DAMASCUS, July 17 (RIA Novosti) - Russia supports continued dialogue to solve Lebanon's domestic disputes, taking into account the interests of all Lebanese people, Russia's special envoy to the Middle East said on Friday.
Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Saltanov arrived in Lebanon on Thursday and met in Beirut with parliamentary speaker Nabih Berry and former prime minister Fouad Siniora.
On Friday, Saltanov arrived in Syria, where he will meet with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Foreign Minister Walid Muallem. He will also meet with Khaled Meshal, the Hamas political leader based in Syria, on Saturday.
The diplomat is expected to discuss the situation in the Middle East and the prospects for holding a Middle East peace conference in Moscow.
