A female Siberian tiger which received a tracking collar from Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin last year has been found after going missing for three months.

There had been no signals received from its tracking collar since September. The tiger was found with a cub.

"Recently, scientists involved in studying the tiger population in the Far East changed its collar," Putin's press secretary said.

He said a tracking collar was also put on the cub's neck.

Putin visited the Reserve of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Far Eastern Department last August, gaining an insight into a program to study and preserve the Siberian tiger population.
