All those killed by a deadly fire in a nightclub in the Urals city of Perm have been identified, emergencies services reported Sunday.
A total of 112 people died and over 120 were injured in the tragedy that occurred early on Saturday during a party to celebrate the Lame Horse club's eighth anniversary when an indoor fireworks display started a fire that consumed most of the 500-square-meter venue.
However, in line with emergencies services' data, 111 people were killed in the fire that inflicted serious and very serious injuries on those affected, who mainly received severe burns.
Many victims were trapped and choked on smoke as they attempted to escape through the club's single exit.
Four people suspected of criminal negligence that resulted in the deaths have been arrested.
"At first I did not realize the scale of the tragedy, thinking the fire will be put out quickly and clothes will be given back to the people and they will go home, but in five minutes I saw firefighters bringing bodies out to the street," an eyewitness said.
He also instructed Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu to work out a tougher punishment for officials for failing to comply with fire safety regulations.
