The border guards in the Trans-Baikal area in south-east Siberia have seized a large batch of illegal Chinese imports, the press office of the regional border guard department said on Sunday.
The batch, the largest in the past five years, was hidden under the bags with onions and comprised men's, women's and children's clothes. The clothes were transported by three Kamaz trucks.
"The vehicles were detained at the Zabaikalsk-Manzhuria international automobile border checkpoint," the press office said, adding that many clothes had the labels of world-renowned brands.
By Sunday morning, two trucks with clothes weighing 14 metric tons had been unloaded. A local firm from Chita tried to smuggle the goods into Russia from China, the press office said.
