The Russian government has introduced a draft bill expanding the list of national security information, the State Duma's website reported on Wednesday.

The lower house's draft bill proposes classifying as secret economic, scientific and technical information to protect critically important objects and potentially dangerous objects within Russia's infrastructure and to protect information on financing counter-terrorism activities, as well as information on sources, methods, and plans of counter-terrorist activities.

On Tuesday, Russian daily Kommersant reported that the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) would offer monetary rewards to people who pass on information about suspected terrorist activity.

The offer is part of a wider FSB policy to increase counter-terrorism measures in Russia.

In April, a bill that allows "preventive measures" against individuals committing extremist activities was submitted to the Russian parliament, fueling fears among opposition parties of a revival of Soviet-era practices.
