In the next three years Russia will contribute $75 million to a program to cut infant and maternal mortality in African states, an aide to the Russian leader said on Saturday.
"At the session [of the G8 summit in Toronto] problems of achieving millennium development goals were discussed, including those concerning infant and maternal mortality," Arkady Dvorkovich said. "Russia will allocate $75 million for these programs in the next three years."
He said that a total of $14 billion are expected to be raised for the initiative, some 80% of them will be provided by the G8 countries.
