Police officer shot dead in Russia’s Dagestan

Unidentified assailants gunned down a police officer in Russia’s North Caucasus republic of Dagestan early on Friday, police said.

The attack took place in the village of Sulak, part of the republic’s Kizilyurtovsky district.

The attackers fled after the shooting.

Dagestan, as well as nearby Ingushetia, sees almost daily militant attacks on police, troops and officials.
