Terrorists and militants will continue to serve their sentences in Russia's harsh north regions and Siberia, the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service said on Friday.
"Every day I receive a slew of letters from relatives of convicts, from human rights commissioners and from deputies who apply for the transfer of convicts to other regions," service head Alexander Reimer said at a meeting with human rights commissioners from Russian regions.
"There is a group of criminals who will be always sent to serve their sentences in the north and Siberia. These are terrorists, gunmen and people with links to illegal armed gangs," he added.
"Do not waste paper....They will serve their sentences in the places we have sent them," Reimer said.
