State prosecutors are demanding an eight-year jail sentence for two women accused of hacking into the email account and social network profile of Russian-Bulgarian pop singer, Philipp Kirkorov, a source at court hearings said on Fridays.
Prosecutors said the accused, Kirkorov's former assistant and an accomplice, had hacked into his mailbox and profile on Odnoklassniki.ru, one of Russia's largest social networks, in order to blackmail the singer.
Both women are charged with blackmail and unauthorized access to digital information.
Prosecutors also demand the women pay one million rubles (about $33,000) to the distressed pop idol.
Kirkorov recently hit the tabloid headlines when he beat up a female TV assistant at a rehearsal for one of his shows.
