Police in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Dagestan were engaged on Thursday in an operation to capture a group of militants thought to be behind a deadly bomb attack.
At least one militant was killed after security forces surrounded the militants, who are taking shelter in a house in the village of Novo-Kuli.
Twin blasts in the republic's capital, Makhachkala, left one person dead and dozens injured.
Volatile Dagestan, which neighbors Chechnya, saw around half of all militant attacks in Russia last year.
