MOSCOW, March 2 (RIA Novosti) – Russia is facing a ‘real war’ aimed at hampering the country’s legal deliveries of weapons to Syria, the head of the Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation has said.
“A real war has been declared against us,” Alexander Fomin told Ekho Moskvy radio on Friday without specifying who has declared the war.
“The [Russian] ships are lured into ports and arrested there under various devised pretexts. When the ships are at sea, any insurance is canceled,” Fomin said adding that any attempts to deliver the contracted goods are being thwarted.
Russia earlier said it will continue selling weapons to Damascus observing both international law and bilateral obligations, while some western countries are pushing for an embargo on Russian arms supplies to Syria, the largest importer of Russian weapons in the Middle East.
Russia and the United States were involved in a diplomatic war of words last year over Moscow's arms sales to Syria, after Washington accused Russia of supplying attack helicopters to the al-Assad regime.
Moscow denied those accusations, claiming it was merely returning equipment overhauled as part of long-standing contracts with Syria, which is locked in a bitter civil war between the government and Islamist rebels.

- moistIndeed they do...01:20, 03/03/2013..and Russia could easily have foreseen the western fascist move against her. So stop this already and ship it, al of it, under Russian flag, military or otherwise.
- mishkaDid USSR have such problems like insurance?03:23, 03/03/2013I accuse Russians most for all difficult positions Russia is in. For their over optimistic dreams while disentegreting the USSR.
Russia has lost its sovereignity when surrendered itself to the west. The power of Soviet Union was not to make cooperation with the west. 2 decades later finally Russians realize how much Soviet administration was right not to trust the west. Since Crimean war west has always tried to avoid Russia to be strong. It s normal and expected. Imrepialist powers had wars 2 times with each other to dominate the world, to use all the sources of humankind. After huge suffers, terriblere sults of world wars they have preffered deal for rates to share the world in today's imperialist conditions. They have always been the members of the same club. Now Russia is knocking the door but they dont want a hunger at the table. They dont want a strong rival.
Soviet Union have not tried to be a member of their club but it could be an alternative for humankind. With great achievements at everything it proved we dont need capitalism for development.
USSR did not use foreign insurance monopols. Anybody afraided to capture its ships.
It was INDEPENDENT and FREE.

News that Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin would resign in order to run for the mayoral election in September came as quite a shock. Sobyanin’s political potential is fairly dubious, not to mention his approval ratings. He has not finished many of the projects he initiated and the electoral effect from these projects is expected to come a bit later than September 2013. Sobyanin’s opponents were not entirely unprepared for this blitzkrieg.
