MOSCOW, August 31 (RIA Novosti) - The Discovery space shuttle has docked with the International Space Station (ISS), delivering more than seven tons of cargo and a new crew member, NASA said on Monday.
Discovery blasted off from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Friday (03:59 GMT Saturday), after bad weather and technical problems had caused three previous launches to be delayed.
Supplies brought to the ISS include scientific and fitness equipment. The shuttle will remain docked with the orbiting platform for nine days.
U.S. astronaut Tim Kopra, who has been part of the ISS crew since July, has been replaced by compatriot Nicole Stott.
