Astronauts Robert Satcher Jr. and Randy Bresnik have completed a third, final spacewalk, fulfilling all assignments they were supposed to, NASA said.

The spacewalk lasted five hours 42 minutes, and the astronauts helped install an oxygen tank at the International Space Station (ISS).

Space shuttle Atlantis launched from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida on November 16 docked with the ISS on November 18 delivering the STS-129 mission crew comprising commander Charles Hobaugh, pilot Barry Wilmore and mission specialists Satcher, Mike Foreman, Bresnik and Leland Melvin.

It also delivered over 12 tons of supplies and equipment.

The 11-day Atlantis mission will return ISS crew member Nicole Stott to Earth and is planned to be the final space shuttle crew rotation flight. Stott spent two and a half months on board the ISS.

The mission completed, only five U.S. space shuttle flights will remain before the shuttle fleet is retired next year. Russian, European and Japanese space freighters will keep the ISS supplied until NASA deploys its new capsule-style Orion spacecraft.
