A Russian Proton-M carrier rocket was taken off the launch pad over a technical fault that could not be fixed promptly, the Federal Space Agency Roscosmos said on Tuesday.
The rocket was to orbit a Dutch communication satellite, SES-5, later in the day.
The fault in the steering gear was detected during a check as part of the preparation for the launch.
The launch was postponed until further notice, Roscosmos said.
