MOSCOW, June 3 (RIA Novosti) - A 30-year-old unemployed mortgage advisor from Maidstone in the U.K. has auctioned himself on eBay in an attempt to find a new job, local media said on Wednesday.

Andy Palmer was among 1,300 people sacked from the Northern Rock bank last August. He has been doing occasional work and sending out job applications since then.

In his advert, he says he is "willing to do anything - so long as it is not sexual or illegal," and seeks a monthly wage of at least $1,600. He describes himself as a "hard worker, enthusiastic and willing to learn" and pledges to donate 25% of the winning bid to charity.

Palmer's personal wish was to work in a project that helps young offenders to "get back on the straight and narrow."

"I think it would be rewarding and it actually pays fairly well." he said.

The bid was, however, moved from the "Auction" section of the website to "Classified," on the grounds that users are not allowed to auction "intangibles."

The online marketplace eBay was founded on September 3, 1995, and has since made regular headlines for strange offers.

Ian Usher from Perth, Australia, auctioned his "whole life" in a package that included his house, car, work and even an introduction to his friends. The bid went under hammer for about $330,000.

Musician Dante Knoxx was barred from selling his soul for over $1 million. The buyer was supposed to get 10% of his income, 10% of any intellectual works and 10% of his estate after his death.
