ST. PETERSBURG, June 6 (RIA Novosti) - Zenit St. Petersburg soccer club forward Oleg Kozhanov suffered a head injury after three unknown assailants attacked him in the early hours of Tuesday morning, local police said.
A source in the hospital where Kozhanov, who turned 19 Monday, sought medical assistance, said the young player had also suffered bruises and a concussion but had been allowed to go home after treatment.
"Kozhanov was not hospitalized," the source said. "He was provided with the necessary medical assistance and was discharged."
Kozhanov made his debut for Zenit last season and also plays for the Russian under-21 team.
