MOSCOW, September 12 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's top tennis players will challenge the U.S. next weekend in the semifinal of the Davis Cup, the team's captain said Tuesday.

Russia's line-up, announced by Shamil Tarpischev, include world No.5 Nikolai Davydenko, Dmitry Tursunov (22), Mikhail Yuzhny (24), Marat Safin (73), and Yevgeny Korolyov (100) as a backup player.

U.S. team captain Patrick McEnroe announced his selection of world No.6 Andy Roddick, James Blake (8), and the world's top pair, brothers Bob and Mike Bryan, for the September 22-24 five-rubber match at the Moscow Olympic Stadium.

Russia clinched a 4-1 away victory over France in a quarterfinal face-off in April, while the U.S. team beat Chile 3-2 to advance to the semifinals.

In the 2005 Davis Cup, Russia also reached the semifinals, but failed to advance into the final, losing to Croatia 2-3.

In 2002, the Russian team shocked French fans in Paris by winning the Silver Cup, the ITF Davis Cup trophy, coming back from 1-2 down after the first two days of competition.

The last U.S. victory in the Davis Cup dates back to 1995, when the Americans defeated the Russians 3-2 in a hard-fought final at the Moscow's Olympic stadium.
