MOSCOW, August 19 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's track cycling duo Mikhail Ignatyev and Alexei Markov won a bronze in the men's Madison event on Tuesday in Beijing.
The gold went to Juan Esteban Curuchet and Walter Fernando Perez of Argentina, who gained 8 points in the event, leaving the Spanish duo of Joan Llaneras and Antonio Tauler to take silver with 7 points, while the Russians finished in third place with 6 points.
It was the final Olympics for Argentine Curuchet, who at 43 is the oldest racer in the track cycling events.
Russia is currently ranked 6th in the overall medal standings with 9 gold, 14 silver and 17 bronze medals, while China tops the standings boasting 41 gold, 14 silver and 17 bronze medals.
