MOSCOW, January 31 (RIA Novosti) - Even as Russian No. 3 seed Dinara Safina prepared to play Serena Williams in the final of the Australian Open, Russia was celebrating a victory in Melbourne on Saturday.
Ksenia Pervak won the Junior Girls' Singles competition 6-3, 6-1 against British teenager Laura Robson.
Like Safina, the 17-year-old Russian was seeded third in the tournament. Her 15-year-old opponent was the No. 5 seed.
Safina's match against the U.S. No. 2 seed starts at 7:30 p.m. local time (08:30 GMT).
