MOSCOW, April 3 (RIA Novosti) - Victoria Azarenka of Belarus progressed to the final of the $4.5 million Sony Ericsson Open tennis tournament in Miami after a tough semi-final match against Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia.

The 19-year-old Belarusian tennis star defeated the 2006 champion in three sets and 2 hours and 40 minutes, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5.

Victory for the world no. 10 against the Russian, ranked two places higher, ended a series of three straight defeats to Kuznetsova and brought her closer to her third WTA Tour singles title.

"It's really big, because it's my first final in such a big tournament. It's the biggest moment, I would say, in my career," the tournament's official website quoted Azarenka as saying after her victory.

Azarenka will face world No. 1 Serena Williams in the final. The U.S. star defeated her elder sister Venus in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, in the other semi-final.
