MOSCOW, September 12 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has congratulated the country's rhythmic gymnastics team on their victory at the World Championships in Japan.
"Your brilliant performance at the tournament in Japan was worthy of representatives of our nation," the Russian leader said in a telegram.
"You proved yet again that our school of rhythmic gymnastics is the strongest in the world."
Medvedev sent a separate telegram to the star of the championships, Evgeniya Kanaeva. The 19-year-old won six gold medals at the tournament.
The 2010 championships are scheduled to take place in Moscow.
