MOSCOW, November 8 (RIA Novosti) - U.K.'s David Haye clinched the WBA Heavyweight World Champion title on Sunday with a points win over Russia's Nikolai Valuev.

Two judges gave Haye a victory of 116-112 points, while the third announced a 114-114 tie.

The 36-year-old Valuev (50-2, 34 KOs) last retained the title in December 2008 in a controversial split decision against four-time world champion Evander Holyfield.

Haye (23-1, 21 KOs) became Britain's first heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis retired six years ago. He earlier told the media that the "Beast from the East" has never been knocked out in the ring as he never faced him.
