The official logo for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games was presented in Moscow on Tuesday.

"We were looking for a unique style and image for the Games. We created a logo with huge potential," Sochi 2014 CEO Dmitry Chernyshenko said at a media conference.

The logo was developed in cooperation with the Interbrand agency and the Sochi-2014 organization committee. According to Chernyshenko, it is youth-oriented. The official Sochi 2014 website describes the logo as "a 21st century brand for a digital generation."

The logo features the text "sochi.ru" immediately above "2014" and the Olympic rings. The "Sochi" and "2014" are in light blue bold characters with round edges, while the ".ru" part is outlined in the same color, but filled with white.

The top and bottom lines of the logo are symmetrical to represent Sochi's location "at the meeting point of the sea and the mountains."

"This is reflected in the Sochi 2014 emblem, which is like the sea acting as a mirror to reflect the mountains," the sochi2014.com website said.

For the first time an Olympic logo contains elements of an Internet address.

The mascot for the Games will be chosen by a nationwide vote.
