Leonid Tyagachyov was reelected president of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) for the second time on Thursday, making this his third consecutive term in office.
In a secret ballot, Tyagachyov received 201 votes out of 216 with the necessary threshold of 50% of votes.
After the results were announced, Tyagachyov thanked everyone for their trust in him, adding he was "grateful to the ROC administration as well as to the presidential administration for their cooperation in his work."
Tyagachyov, 63, was first elected the president of the ROC in 2001 and was re-elected for another term in 2005.
Under his presidency Russia won the right to host the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, which will be held in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi.
