A Russian Nordic Combined athlete, who missed the first medal event after his blood test proved high hemoglobin levels, will be able to compete in the next individual race, a top Russian sports official said on Wednesday.
High hemoglobin led to Niyaz Nabeev being barred from competitions for five days.
"I'm sure he will [compete]," Vladimir Slavsky, who heads the country's Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Federation, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
He said Nabeev was genetically prone to having high hemoglobin levels.
The third and final event on the Nordic combined calendar, a ski jumping individual large hill competition plus a 7.5 km cross-country race, is scheduled for February 25.
