A long-range free-kick by Japanese international Keisuke Honda saw CSKA Moscow recorded a famous victory in Spain as they beat Sevilla 2-1 and progressed to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Sevilla were heavy favorites to progress after a 1-1 draw in a snowbound Moscow three weeks ago, but CSKA shocked the home fans with a superbly taken goal by Czech international Tomas Necid in the 39th minute.
The Russian club's lead lasted only two minutes however, as a mix-up in CSKA's defense saw Diego Perotti through to shoot home.
But it was new CSKA signing Honda who had the last word, his free-kick ricocheting into the roof of the net off Sevilla keeper Andres Palop.
"This match is a lesson that anything is possible," CSKA coach Leonid Slutsky said after the game.
CSKA now join Manchester United, Arsenal, Lyon, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan in the March 19 draw for the last eight. The other two places will be taken by two from Barcelona /Stuttgart and Bordeaux/Olympiakos.
