Dutch trainer Dick Advocaat flies into Russia on Tuesday to officially take over as the coach of the Russian national football team, the head of the Russian Football Union head said on Monday.

"Anticipating your questions, I will say that Dick Advocaat will be appointed the chief coach of Russian national team," Sergei Fursenko said.

Advocaat replaces Guus Hiddink as coach, but will be paid less than the estimated 8 million euros a year his compatriot received.

"A contract has been signed for four years," Fursenko said. "The sum of the contract is lower than Guus Hiddink had."

Belgian media earlier reported that Advocaat would be paid as much as 12 million euros a year to lead Russia to the finals of Euro 2012.

The 62-year-old quit his job as coach of Belgium in April after barely six months in charge. His contract with the Belgian FA was supposed to last until 2012 but he said the prospect of working with the Russian national side was too compelling.

Fursenko said that Russia would not pay the Belgian FA compensation for Advocaat's decision to break his contract with them.

Advocaat remains the trainer of Dutch side AZ Alkmaar, who he coached to fifth in the Dutch league after taking over in December.
