Attacking midfielder Alan Dzagoev will play no further part in CSKA Moscow’s title challenge, but will return in time to join the Russia squad at Euro 2012, CSKA coach Leonid Slutsky told RIA Novosti on Monday.

Dzagoev, a regular in the national team despite being only 21 years of age, has been ruled out since breaking a toe in CSKA’s 2-0 defeat to Lokomotiv Moscow on March 24.

“Dzagoev will play no further part in this national championship,” Slutsky said.

The last game of CSKA’s season is on May 13, while Russia play their first game of Euro 2012 on June 8, with the first pre-tournament friendly scheduled for May 25.

“By the start of May, Alan’s cast should be taken off, and he’ll return to the squad two or three weeks later,” Slutsky said.

“Alan should be fit for the European Championship.”

Since joining CSKA in 2008, Dzagoev has made 153 appearances for CSKA, scoring 37 goals and setting up a further 30.

Since making his international debut in 2008, North Ossetia-born Dzagoev has amassed 18 caps and four goals for Russia.
