MOSCOW, November 19 (R-Sport) - Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin scored the winning goal in overtime as his lockout team Dynamo Moscow edged out Dynamo Minsk 3-2.

The Muscovites reclaimed the top place in the Western Conference from Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, while Dynamo Minsk is outside the playoff zone in 10th.

In Sunday’s game in Belarus, former Philadelphia Flyers forward Denis Tolpeko hit the net twice in the second period to put Dynamo Moscow 2-0 ahead, as Ovechkin’s Capitals teammate Niklas Backstrom recorded an assist on each goal.

Dynamo Minsk's top scorer Tim Stapleton pulled one back in the end of the second period.

In the dying seconds of the third, Dynamo Moscow defenseman Maxim Soloviev deliberately moved his team’s goal and former Winnipeg Jets center Stapleton buried the resulting penalty shot to take the game to overtime.

Ovechkin scored his seventh goal for Dynamo Moscow with 62:45 on the clock to seal the victory.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Donbass Donetsk beat Ak Bars Kazan 3-2 in overtime at home.

KHL newcomer Donbass was 2-0 ahead by the half-hour mark, but powerplay goals from Konstantin Korneev and Danis Zaripov put the teams level.

Two-time Gagarin Cup winner Ak Bars was denied victory by former Florida Panthers forward Evgenii Dadonov, who scored his eighth goal of the season in the first minute of overtime.

Donbass is just inside the playoff zone in eighth in the West and on a three-game winning streak, while Ak Bars is fourth in the East, three points behind leader Traktor Chelyabinsk.
