A Chinese writer is planning to spend $153,000 on plastic surgery to look like British playwright William Shakespeare, Shanghai Daily reported on its website on Thursday.

Zhang Yiyi will undergo 10 facelifts over a period of 10 months to look like the playwright so that "people across the world mourn" one of world's greatest writers and dramatists.

Experts say that a resemblance is possible to create as Zhang has a sculpted face with a sharp nose and deep inset eyes.

"Life is a process of striving to become a better person. I think the surgeries are worth the money," Zhang was quoted as saying.

Zhang will spend the money he earned on his new book that took him four years to write in order to pay for the surgeries.

This is not the first time Zhang has been in the media spotlight. In 2006, he wrote a letter to propose to a famous Chinese TV show hostess, listing reasons why she should marry him.
