BRUSSELS, June 22 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expects the international conference on Iraq in Brussels to find specific solutions to improve the situation in Iraq.

"We believe that the vital problems of Iraq settlement must be discussed in a broad format with all the countries concerned, including Iraq's neighbors, of course, and the UN, which is to coordinate all our efforts," the minister said.

On arriving in Brussels Wednesday, the minister said that the conference corresponded to the idea of proposals made by Russia and a number of other countries.

Lavrov said the conference reflected the global community's desire to proactively help the Iraqis improve the situation, revive the country in the aftermath of war, ensure its state sovereignty and maintain its territorial integrity. "We are convinced that this can only be achieved through national reconciliation and compromise," Lavrov said.

The diplomat said the agenda of the ministerial meeting on Iraq included measures to assist the political process in Iraq, restore law and order and revive the country's economy.
