More IAEA experts arrive in Iran

TEHRAN, August 8 (RIA Novosti, Nikolai Terekhov) - Another group of IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) experts arrived in Iran to launch inspection equipment.

"Another group of experts has arrived in Iran to prepare for launching the equipment of the Isfahan nuclear technology center," an official of the Iran Atomic Nuclear Energy Organization said, adding that the experts would also install additional inspection equipment.

Last week, Tehran informed the IAEA about its plans to resume uranium ore processing at Isfahan.

The decision came after the EU failed to provide a package of proposals addressing Iran's nuclear programs before August 1.

The "EU troika" (Britain, France, and Germany) only submitted the proposals on August 5. However, Tehran dismissed the initiatives as ignoring Iran's sovereign right to uranium-enrichment efforts and to creating a complete nuclear cycle, Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi said earlier.

The EU views Iran's move as a denunciation of its voluntary moratorium on uranium enrichment, but the Iranians see things in a different light.

Local experts said considering IAEA experts were already working at Isfahan, the arrival of another IAEA group to install additional inspection equipment could be seen as an IAEA attempt to delay the restart of operations and win time. The IAEA Governing Council will convene an emergency session on August 10 in Vienna, following "the EU troika" initiative to decide on submitting Iran's nuclear files to the UN Security Council for possible sanctions.
