North Korea nuclear talks could resume Sept. 2

BEIJING, August 25 (RIA Novosti, Alexei Yefimov) - The fourth round of the six-nation talks on North Korea's nuclear problem, aimed at persuading the country to give up its nuclear weapons program, could resume Sept. 2, China's top envoy to the forum was quoted as saying by China Radio International.

Head of the Chinese delegation, Deputy Foreign Minister Wu Dawei is currently in Tokyo to discuss details of the talks, which involve North Korea, China, Russia, the United States, Japan and South Korea.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry did not comment on the statement.

The first leg of the fourth round of the negotiations was held in the Chinese capital from July 26 - August 7.The delegations have agreed on the greater part of the final agreement, but have not reached a full consensus. The talks were put on hold August 7 to give the delegates time to come up with acceptable solutions.
