KIEV/BRUSSELS, October 9 (RIA Novosti) - A Chemical-Biological and Radiological-consequence management field exercise, Joint Assistance 2005, begins in Ukraine Sunday and will run through October 13.

The exercise is a part of NATO's Partnership for Peace program and the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction.

Some 500 troops from over 25 countries will be involved in the exercise conducted at the Yavoriv training center near Lvov, western Ukraine.

The field exercise will focus on response to a terrorist attack using chemical agents and coordination of consequence management operations.

Ukraine hosts Joint Assistance exercise for the second time, following Croatia, Russia, Romania and Uzbekistan.
