ASTANA, October 12 (RIA Novosti) - U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will visit Kazakhstan and meet with the country's president Wednesday.
"U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev will meet October 12 in Astana," a source in the presidential administration said.
Sean McCormack, the spokesman for the U.S. Department of State, said in Washington earlier that Rice intended to visit Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan with the goal of demonstrating U.S. support for the countries, including their political and economic reforms.
Rice will hold talks on a wide range of issues concerning economic development, security, and democracy, he said.
It will be Rice's first trip to this region as U.S. secretary of state.
