Lithuania claiming 30,000 euros for Su-27 crash damages
VILNIUS, October 19 (RIA Novosti, Vladimir Vodo) - Lithuanian authorities are claiming 30,000 euros from Russia for damages caused by the Russian Su-27 Flanker fighter that crashed in the Baltic state in September, a statement from the Lithuanian Prosecutor General's office said Wednesday.
The Prosecutor General's office asked the Russian Foreign Ministry to turn to the proper authorities in Russia to voluntarily compensate the damage inflicted on Lithuanian government departments and citizens.
The fighter, flying from St. Petersburg to the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad, crashed September 15 on Lithuanian territory after a navigation system failure. Pilot Major Troyanov managed to eject safely and no one was hurt in the incident.
