BUSAN (South Korea), November 15 (RIA Novosti) - A package of well-prepared and coordinated documents will be drafted for the summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation due on November 18-19, the Russian foreign minister said Tuesday.
Sergei Lavrov said APEC ministers would discuss these documents before the summit.
"The documents cover all spheres of APEC activities, including trade and economic issues... and the fight against new threats and challenges," he said.
APEC focuses on the fight against international terrorism, organized crime and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, Lavrov said.
He also said Russia has proposed establishing a single information center for navigation security in the Asia-Pacific region to APEC.
"The fight against natural disasters is also an important trend," Lavrov said, adding that a disaster relief system was launched at APEC on Russia's initiative.
Lavrov said APEC would also tackle bird flu issues.
"Regional projects against this phenomenon are being drafted within the APEC framework to form a part of the global [UN] project."
