TBILISI, January 26 (RIA Novosti) - The United States and Georgia started a new stage of military training for 600 Georgian military servicemen Friday.
High-ranking officials from the Georgian Defense Ministry and NATO member states attended the opening ceremony of the training program at a Georgian Defense Ministry's training center near the capital, Tbilisi.
A nine-week training session will be held for servicemen of logistics battalions from the first and second brigades of the Defense Ministry, followed by a five-week field course.
The United States financed the Georgia Train and Equip Program (GTEP) from 2002 to 2004, creating four Coalition/NATO interoperable, light infantry battalions and a mechanized armor company.
