MOSCOW, February 4 (RIA Novosti) - Iran sees no reason to accept Russia's proposal to enrich uranium on the latter's territory after the IAEA's decision to inform the UN Security Council on the Iranian nuclear issue, a senior nuclear official of the Islamic Republic said Saturday.

Jawad Vaeidi, the deputy head of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, said: "There is now no basis for implementing the Russian plan."

"Uranium enrichment on an industrial scale will be renewed at Natanze [nuclear plant] in correspondence with a law adopted by parliament."

The Russian offer had been seen as a compromise in the standoff between the Islamic Republic and the West over its nuclear programs after Tehran caused widespread international concern with a recent announcement that it had abandoned a two-year moratorium on uranium enrichment research.

The IAEA Board of Governors adopted a resolution Saturday to inform the UN Security Council on the Iran nuclear issue.

According to the resolution, IAEA Director General Mohammed ElBaradei is set to deliver a report on the Iranian nuclear program to the UN Security Council.

The resolution urges Iran to resume its moratorium on nuclear fuel research, to ratify an additional protocol to its agreement with the IAEA, and to allow the agency to clarify all aspects of its past nuclear activities.
