KIEV, February 11 (RIA Novosti, Pavel Dulman) - Ukraine's political reforms could be scrapped, the speaker of the Ukrainian lower house of parliament said Saturday. Volodymyr Lytvyn said political reforms could be terminated on a decision from the country's Constitutional Court.
The speaker noted that in his recent address to parliament, Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko had pledged not to initiate a review of the reforms before the upcoming parliamentary election, set for March 26. Yet, according to Lytvyn, the review process could be set in motion if 45 MPs were to sign a petition to the Constitutional Court.
"A review of political reforms would plunge Ukraine into a state of uncertainty and deep confrontation," Lytvyn warned.
