MOSCOW, February 27 (RIA Novosti) - Russian-Iranian talks on establishing a joint venture in Russia to enrich uranium for Iran will continue in the coming days, the Russian foreign minister said Monday.

"There has been no pause in our contacts with Iran in recent weeks," Sergei Lavrov told journalists. "And they will continue in the coming days until the session of the board of governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency."

The session of the UN nuclear watchdog has been scheduled for March 6. Сергей Лавров

"We are sure that the world community's effort to resolve the Iranian nuclear problem must include a moratorium on uranium enrichment within Iran until IAEA experts clarify the situation," the minister said.

The mooted deal between Iran and Russia, which is currently building an $800-million plant near the southern Iranian port city of Bushehr, is seen as a potential compromise in the crisis around the nuclear programs of the Islamic Republic, which some countries suspect of pursuing a covert weapons program. Although Tehran has consistently said it only wants nuclear power for peaceful purposes, the United States and other nations have concerns, as enriched uranium is a vital component for an atomic bomb.
