Incorrect decisions taken by the UN Security Council would affect Tehran's cooperation with the nuclear watchdog, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said Sunday.

TEHRAN, May 7 (RIA Novosti) - Incorrect decisions taken by the UN Security Council would affect Tehran's cooperation with the nuclear watchdog, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said Sunday.

The UN Security Council is currently considering a resolution drafted by the United States, Britain and France that could see economic sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic for its failure to cooperate fully and openly with the UN's nuclear watchdog.

"Involving the UN Security Council and adopting incorrect decisions will affect Tehran's cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency," Hamid Reza Asefi said.

Asefi said a draft resolution prepared by the UN Security Cou8ncil on the Iranian nuclear program had political motivations, adding that the interference of the Security Council on the issue was completely illegal.

Asefi also said Iran did not intend to suspend its uranium enrichment work.

"The issue of suspension (of enrichment) is not on our agenda," Asefi said.
