Vladimir Putin and Mikheil Saakashvili will meet in St. Petersburg June 13 to focus on solving "frozen" conflicts in the Caucasus country with the breakaway provinces of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
Nino Burdzhanadze said the meeting was of vital importance, and called for a maximum level of diplomacy and a ban on any anti-Russian speeches.
"Georgian-Russian relations have reached a deadlock and we hope that the upcoming meeting between the countries' presidents will yield positive results and diffuse the situation," she said.
The two leaders will meet against the backdrop of Georgian accusations that Russia has been building up a military presence in South Ossetia using a regular rotation of peacekeeping troops in the breakaway region as cover.
