KIEV, June 13 (RIA Novosti) - The Ukrainian army will be fully professional by 2010, the defense minister said Tuesday.
Currently, 37,700 soldiers and sergeants or 38.6% of regular personnel are on contract. The country's experimental military formations are 68% manned by contract servicemen on average.
"Our strategy aims to ensure full transition to contract service. This will be done before 2010," Anatoliy Hrytsenko said.
