Ukraine's Yulia Tymoshenko, a former premier and fiery heroine of the "orange revolution", hit out Wednesday at a possible union between the pro-presidential and pro-Russia parties in parliament.

KIEV, June 14 (RIA Novosti) - Ukraine's Yulia Tymoshenko, a former premier and fiery heroine of the "orange revolution", hit out Wednesday at a possible union between the pro-presidential and pro-Russia parties in parliament.

Tymoshenko's eponymous bloc had been tipped to form a parliamentary coalition with two other "orange" parties - the pro-presidential Our Ukraine and the Socialist Party - but changed its position after negotiations broke down and Our Ukraine said it would talk to arch rivals, the Party of Regions.

"All the statements from Our Ukraine indicate that the format of talks has changed, and the Communist leader will now have to help the Party of Regions and Our Ukraine form a majority," Tymoshenko told a plenary parliamentary session.

She said her bloc would not be party to the negotiations.

"I want to make it clear on behalf of our bloc that we will never agree to any cooperation within a coalition in such a mixed-up format," Tymoshenko said.

Negotiations on forming an "orange" coalition were complicated over disagreements on who should be appointed prime minister and parliamentary speaker and over Tymoshenko's refusal to deal with the Party of Regions.

Under the Ukrainian Constitution, parliament is to forge a coalition within 30 days after parliament's first session, which took place on May 25. If parliamentarians fail to reach an agreement, President Viktor Yushchenko is entitled to disband the legislature and call new elections

Official results from the March ballot saw the Party of Regions take first place with 186 seats in the 450-seat legislature. Yanukovych's party was followed by the Tymoshenko bloc with 129 seats, Our Ukraine with 81 seats, the Socialist Party with 33 seats and the Communist Party with 21 seats.
