ASTANA, June 19 (RIA Novosti) - The Kazakh president's eldest daughter, a member of parliament and Asar party leader, said Monday that a ruling party should be established in the country to comprise intellectuals from pro-presidential groups.

Deriga Nazarbayeva is seen by many as the main candidate for the presidency when her 65-year-old father's seven-year term expires in 2014.

But in remarks that suggested she was in favor of reforming the political system that has seen Nursultan Nazarbayev father in power for the best part of 20 years, she said, "Our system's weak point is that stability and balance in the country have been maintained by one man: the president. This presents a great danger to the state and cannot satisfy us."

Nazarbayeva said the new party should comprise political and, above all, "intellectual resources" from pro-presidential groups.

"It should be a truly ruling party," she said.

Oil-rich Kazakhstan has avoided radical political changes that rocked many of the post-Soviet nations, including neighboring Kyrgyzstan, in recent years.

The opposition in Kazakhstan has criticized the leadership over an allegedly poor record on democracy and freedom. The president's daughter has been accused of influencing public opinion via a media holding she allegedly controls.
