KIEV, June 23 (RIA Novosti) - Ukraine's president congratulated the parliamentary majority on striking a coalition deal after three months of political wrangling, the press service said Friday.

On Thursday, the three Western-leaning movements in Ukraine signed a coalition agreement after lengthy negotiations that had stumbled over posts distribution and the socioeconomic future of the country.

"I have every right to congratulate you on finishing a difficult period that has had a beautiful ending," he said.

Negotiations on a coalition deal began after the March 26 parliamentary elections had failed to produce a clear winner.

"I thank each side for their efforts, and I am convinced that you did it for the sake of Ukraine," Yushchenko said but added that much work remained to be done.

Yushchenko's congratulations were addressed to leaders of three parliamentary factions that had swept him to power during the "orange" revolution in 2004 and signed the coalition deal Thursday: leader of pro-presidential Our Ukraine faction Roman Bezsmertniy, leader of her eponymous bloc and ex-premier Yulia Tymoshenko, and head of the Socialist Party Alexander Moroz.

The president and parliamentary faction leaders also discussed forming the key bodies in parliament and the lineup of the new government, the presidential press service said.

The coalition deal froze out the pro-Russia Party of Regions, which won most of the votes in the parliamentary polls. The party said it would be in tough opposition along with the Communists who had also made it to parliament.
