BISHKEK, June 26 (RIA Novosti) - Kyrgyz parliamentarians voted Monday to appoint an ally of the president first deputy prime minister.

Daniyar Usenov, one of the closest associates of President Kurmanbek Bakiyev and one of the country's leading businessmen, was nominated for the post last fall but failed to gain support from parliament.

In May, Usenov was appointed acting first deputy prime minister as part of a sudden government reshuffle.

His candidacy on this occasion was backed by 49 out of the 75 legislators.

Parliament also voted against appointing Ishengul Boldzhurova - another active supporter of the popular violent uprising in March 2005 that propelled opposition leader Bakiyev to the presidency - as deputy prime minister. Boldzhurova garnered only 26 votes.
